Peachy Keen: Charity Shop Dress from Gloucester Road

Peach charity shop dressI’m having a love affair. It’s not with another man, it’s not with Zara, though that Spanish temptress certainly knows how to push my buttons. No, this rekindled flirtation is with charity shops. After months of nothing catching my eye, I’ve found peppermint twin-sets, swallow print tops, tweed blazers and now this peach coloured dress, all in the last few weeks.

Said dress came from Cancer Research on Gloucester Road, which is one of the best locations in Bristol for charity shopping, making it a natural choice for dropping off some of the leftovers after my recent clothes swap. As I went in to hand over a carrier bag full of vest tops, jeans and dresses, I spotted this beauty in the corner of the shop.

Black vintage back with gold clasp.jpgThe peachy pink colour isn’t one that crops up often in my wardrobe – it’s a little too close to my own skin tone and has a tendency to wash me out – but I was drawn to the large floral print and delicate peach and gold buttons, so for £7 I thought I’d give it a go.

I figured that my trusty pair of white tights would offset the skin tone issue and it’s just about worked, don’t you think? The black boots and vintage bag are both clothes swap finds, and the fluffy woollen beanie is a sales purchase that I picked up in Accessorize last year.

I’m so happy that it’s finally March, and therefore basically spring. It was just starting to rain as these pictures were taken, so I was in a hurry to put my coat back on and scurry home! I’m seriously looking forward to the day when I can pack the tights and umbrellas away, in favour of sunglasses and summer dresses – it’s so close I can almost smell it!

I am dreaming of days without jackets too, or at least a lightweight not a giant puffy winter one!

That dress is such a wonderful colour on you. I really need to hit up some charity shops when I’m better recovered!

Oh I love it when you’re on a charity shop roll. I recently found some amazing leopard print boots from Hobbs that had hardly been worn. You look lovely as always – I think peach really suits red hair!
