Sunday Afternoon Adventures

Bird print top and Mini Diana cameraSundays are fast becoming my favourite day of the week. Where once I used to see them as the precursor to Monday, when fun stops and you have to go back to ‘real life’ and the grind of school/university/work, now it’s a day for adventures around Bristol.

Sundays seems to be the day that Mr Ship-Shape and I find ourselves wandering around Clifton Village, seeing a film at the cinema or having a cheeky breakfast at Boston Tea Party. We go to exhibitions, treat ourselves to coffee (ok, hot chocolate) and usually make the most of whatever the weather throws at us.

This is an outfit I chose for a recent Sunday adventure, when we took my new Diana Mini lomo camera out for a spin in Queen Square. The weather was uncharacteristically good and the temperature just warm enough for me to take off my coat for these shots.

I found the navy blue swallow print top in a British Heart Foundation charity shop for a bargain-ous £3.50, which is also where I found this epic peppermint green twinset. I’ve been attempting a beehive for a few weeks now but my hair seems determined to sit as close to my head as possible – perhaps a bit more back combing is in order…

Do you have a favourite day of the week?

That outfit is lovely, love the clashing prints and the trousers are awesome.
I love Sundays, I feel like I rarely have a free Sunday at the moment but when I do they are definitely for breakfasts out, a run, or a bit of an explore. I also love having Sunday pamper evenings with a long bath with candles and a bath bomb, makes me feel rested and ready for the week! xo

Thanks Rosie – I’ve seen lots of people talk about the Sunday pamper night thing – I think I need to get on that as it would be the icing on the cake that is Sunday :)

Ahhh getting hair up high is a bit of a chore! One thing to keep in mind is the cleaner the hair the more it will fall, now I do not like to go around with actual unshowered hair so I use mass amounts of product to get it “dirty” and then tease the heck out of it! Also if you are going to tease up the top and then do a pony tail if you are pinning the top part with bobby pins and then adding the pony tail it helps. I have also found that a brush that is made for teasing rather than just the comb works better for me as well!

Thank you so much for tips! I try to pin the top bit and then form the ponytail after but it always seems to go flat – I think I just need to go all-out with my back combing!

That top is so sweet, it looks lovely paired with the trousers! I do love wandering around Clifton Village, it’s such a pretty area of Bristol. I think Saturday will always remain my favourite week day! ;)

Hi Kathryn, I’m loving using it – loading the film was a faff that required watching a YouTube video several times, but it’s very convenient, size wise. I haven’t developed a film yet but I’ll let you know how I get on when I do :)
