The Little Things #10

The Little Things #10The last few weeks have gone by in a whirlwind and have been some of the best I’ve had in San Francisco so far, not least because we had two lovely visitors from the UK, and we popped down to LA for a long weekend. The clocks have just changed here and there is a definite springtime vibe in the air, even if it’s warmer than what I’m used to at this time of year.

Here are some of the little (and big) things that have put a smile on my face recently…

Blogging about: My obsession with Man vs Food‘s SF eateries, the clothes swap shirt that I can’t stop wearing and the make-up I’ll be slapping on my face this spring.
Watching: The hilarious indie vampire mock-umentary, What We Do In The Shadows, from Flight of the Concords genius Jermaine Clement, season three of the nail biting-as-ever House of Cards, and we’ve just started watching the latest Netflix offering, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. I’m not completely sold on it yet – have you seen it?
Buying: A few vintage bits and pieces from the Rose Bowl Flea Market, which I attended when we were in LA last weekend.
Reading: The Boys in the Boat by Daniel James Brown, which is all about the true story of how nine University of Washington students went on win gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. It’s not the kind of book I’d normally choose to read but I’ve been invited to a book club and this is the book of the month, so I’m ploughing through it.
Listening to: The San Francisco Symphony, which we managed to score a free pair of tickets to see Thomas Adès last week after our friends couldn’t attend – hurrah!
Wearing: My latest Goodwill find – this vintage black leather pencil skirt.
Trying: Lots of new exercise classes. I recently signed up to ‘fitness passport’ company Fitmob (more on this in a future post) and have been loving the variety of classes and studios I’ve been able to attend, including Pilates, heated yoga and boxing.
Eating: Brazilian tapas and Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles in LA, and this delicious avocado and strawberry salad, which I’ve been chowing down on for the last five days in a row.
Doing: My best attempt at playing tourist and visiting the deYoung Museum and Conservatory of Flowers in Golden Gate Park.
Shooting: Palm trees and lifeguard huts in LA – photo diary coming soon!
Enjoying: Spending time with S & O when they came out to visit us at the end of February, including a night at the California Academy of Sciences, thrift shopping on Haight St and far too many cocktails. Oh, and lots of ice cream.
Looking forward to: Celebrating my birthday in New York next month. If any of you have any suggestions or recommendations for NYC places, activities or restaurants, I’d love to hear ’em!

I really enjoyed WWDITS, I adore Jermaine Clement, I just wished Bret was in it too! :) I like Unbreakable KS, definitely keep watching it! <3

It was so good, wasn’t it? I’m guessing Bret was too busy being ‘Elf no.3’ in the Hobbit ;) I’ve finished Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt now and I’m so pleased I stuck with it – it got a lot funnier as it went along! x
