It’s time for a round up of the things that have been making me happy over the last few weeks. As I type it’s raining heavily outside but we’ve been blessed with beautiful blue skies and sunny days up until this point – something that means my usual January Blues were pretty much non-existent this year.
Blogging about: Moving abroad and why you should face your fears, Patrick Swayze-inspired shirts and my fitness goals for 2015.
Watching: January ‘favourites’ videos on YouTube, Gossip Girl season three and attempting to finish what I started a few months ago and watch the last ever season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Buying: A rather fetching fedora and window shopping for a new bicycle.
Making: Vegan cookie dough bites and not-so-vegan brownies – yum!
Reading: Lots of thrift shop books. Last week I finished The Female Eunuch by Germain Greer and I’ve just started Hungry, the memoir by plus size supermodel Crystal Renn.
Wearing: Sunglasses and ski jacket for our skiing trip to Lake Tahoe, which was a cold but incredibly beautiful place. It was my first time on the slopes and it was certainly a memorable experience.
Trying: To snack less, or at least a bit better, hence the sudden interest in vegan baking.
Eating: A week’s worth of delicious veggie chilli that Mr Ship-Shape cooked from scratch, with rice, tortilla chips, sour cream and guacamole.
Doing: some strength and condition exercises in a bid to improve my running technique, as I haven’t been out in over a week due to a rather epic blister. Less said the better…
Enjoying: Feeling settled.
Looking forward to: Our first visit of 2015 from our friends S & O, who arrive a week today. Excited doesn’t even cover it.
What little things have been making you happy recently?
Gossip Girl and Buffy are the best!

They really are! The storylines are ridiculous but I love ’em… x
I’ve been tempted to try a bit of Vegan baking, there are just so many incredible recipes out there!
What I’ve tried making so far has been hit and miss but you should give it ago – there are several ‘raw’ sweet-toothed recipes on my Pinterest board too, which are even healthier :)
