The Little Things #14 – The British Edition

Little Things British Edition

What a last two weeks! It’s been a little quiet around these parts, but if you follow me on Instagram or Twitter you’ll know that I’ve been busy visiting friends and family in the UK. In exchange for radio silence on the blog front, I’ve been eating homemade cakes, catching up with friends and watching two of my favourite people tie the knot. Here’s a slightly delayed version of The Little Things – The British Edition!

Blogging about: Well, not very much because I’ve been too busy attending weddings and whatnot, but before I left I wrote about San Francisco Pride and our long weekend in Miami.
Watching: Two of our dearest friends get married. This was the reason for our trip back and although jet lag and weddings don’t go well together, we had a wonderful day, danced all night and ate a lot of cheese. The venue, which you can see part of above, was a beautiful old barn decked in bunting and fairy lights, which made for a magical setting.
Making: The effort to have my haircut while in Bristol – before San Francisco I went to the same hairdresser for five years – she understands my #fringegirlproplems like no-one else. The result is seriously shorter than usual, but I’ve been assured that milkmaid braids will still be possible, thank goodness.
Buying: A few sale bits and pieces from shops that are harder to find in the US, including Topshop and Sweaty Betty. Oh, and pretty much the entirety of the Bourjois counter at Boots.
Reading: British magazines! ELLE, Red, Glamour and lots of Sunday supplements –my favourites – that Mama Ship-Shape has been keeping for me. Don’t get me wrong, there are some great magazines in the US but they are stuffed with adverts, lacking in double-page spreads and severely lacking in beauty freebies.
Listening to: The Cadbury Sisters – one of my favourite British bands – played at the wedding we attended and it was such a beautiful, intimate performance. They performed at Glastonbury this year and I was gutted I couldn’t be there, so this more than made up for it!
Wearing: A vintage wedding outfit that cost less than £15 – style post and photos coming soon!
Eating: Fish and chips, Mama Ship-Shape’s roast dinners and a mountain of Pieminister pie – we are spoilt for choice when it comes to food in San Francisco but these are the foods I’ve missed the most since the move.
Enjoying: Catching up with friends and family, which has included, in no particular order; swing dancing, baking giant Party Rings, loosing a pub quiz, dining with my favourite #blogclub babes, sipping champagne, picking strawberries, de-cluttering a wardrobe, putting the world to rights over breakfast, eating ice cream at the beach and surprise bagel lunches.
Looking forward to: My last two days here before I fly back on Tuesday.

What little things have you been loving lately?
