The Little Things #8

The Little Things #8This Little Things post is the first one of 2015 and indeed the first one in our new city. I can’t believe we’ve been here for nearly two months already.

I regularly have ‘pinch me, I live in California!’ days and yet in other ways it feels like we’ve been here so much longer than we have. Here are a few Little Things that have made me smile recently…

Blogging about: My Angela Chase-inspired thrift shop dress, Sephora’s bevy of lip products in their Give Me More Lip sampler, my favourite outfits of 2014 and what it was like spending Christmas in San Francisco.
Watching: New Year’s Eve fireworks from a rooftop house party, and the sun setting over the Pacific Ocean on the first day of the year. Also, we got Netflix, so I *may* have revisited the guilty pleasure that is Gossip Girl
Buying: Thrifted paisley shirts and multiple tubs of Ben & Jerrys.
Making: Plans for the year ahead.
Reading: Last month I finished Lena Dunham’s Not That Kind of Girl (hilarious) and this month I started The Female Eunuch by Germain Greer (hard work so far) and Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn (finished within a week – it’s *that* good).
Wearing: Layers. Just like Britain, San Francisco can be quite temperamental weather-wise, though luckily it’s been sunglasses weather for the past couple of weeks and I’ve only had to wear a thick coat once.
Trying: Lots of new exercise classes. A workout rhythm was seriously lacking before Christmas, but so far in 2015 I’ve tried Pilates, a running club and a strength and conditioning class that had me deadlifting a 20lb barbell. It may not sound that heavy but I was so chuffed with myself!
Eating: Far too much, but notably delicious Mexican food at The Little Chihuahua, getting my Man vs Food on with a trip to the San Francisco Creamery, lots of sushi and the wonder that is fudge covered Oreos.
Shooting: Palm trees with my Instax on Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, and lots of Instagram snaps.
Enjoying: Skype sessions with my nearest and dearest, particularly Mama Ship-Shape, who still looks amazed that she can talk to me AND see me at the same time.
Looking forward to: My Paperchase 2015 diary arriving – my life is currently being held together with scraps of paper and a serious lack of colourful pens. Not cool.
