I think I finally understand the ‘sports luxe’ thing. After admiring it from afar, mostly in the pages of ELLE magazine, I’ve found a pair of trousers that qualify.
The sports luxe trend has been hanging around for a couple of seasons now and while I own plenty of fitness clothing, I couldn’t ever see myself pairing overpriced jogging bottoms and sweatshirts with stiletto heels. I think the issue is that to wear the trend head to toe requires polished hair and make-up – something you’re unlikely to see round these parts.
I picked these navy trousers up in the Zara sale and they are hands-down one of the most comfortable pairs I own (sorry, florals). I was originally put off by the baggy seat and tight ankles combo, worrying that they looked and felt too much like jogging bottoms to be considered ‘luxe’. Happily, they are slouchy in a good way and my friends and colleagues have assured me that I don’t look like I’m about to start running up and down stairs a là Rocky.
These trousers cost £17.99 in the sale – not bad for a pair that I can see myself wearing year-round. They actually remind me of a pair that Niki owns, so I’ll have to look to her for some style inspiration!

looking good SJ!
Thanks Laura!
Those trousers look so comfortable and I am loving this backdrop! Gorgeous. <3
Thanks Tara! The trousers are sooo comfy – they’re definitely easy to wear :)
Aha! I’ve just started dabbling in ‘sports luxe’ myself, after months of confusion over the perfect makeup/hair accompaniment, I think i’ve got a happy medium with it now! Those trousers are great, will go with plenty of options in the autumn too!
Thanks Katie! It’s a tricky one to get right isn’t it? If you’re too casual with the rest of your look/outfit it looks more sports casual than sports luxe!
