When it comes to haircare I can be a little lazy. Fringe trims aside, I only get my hair cut twice a year, three times at a push. The combination of getting around to actually booking an appointment, plus my reluctance to sit still for more than half an hour, means it doesn’t happen often.
Anywho, last weekend I finally went for the chop and I’m so happy with the results. I plumped for a warm copper colour with a little balayage thrown in for good measure. I also had some invisible layers cut into my hair which was slightly terrifying (hidden sections of my hair are now only a few inches long) but this is great for giving volume, as I’m demonstrating somewhat sheepishly above.
This is one of my favourite outfits at the moment – the delightfully granny-chic cardigan is a find from one of San Francisco’s many thrift shops. I think it cost around $6 and has been a go-to cover up for me on the days (like today) when the weather is all over the place.

Oh SJ, I love your new ‘do’ and Cali granny cardi. ;)
Aww, thanks!
I also hate sitting for my hair to be done and therefore it has not been cut since last June eek!
Glad to hear that I’m not alone. I’m not sure if it’s a hangover from when I was little and sitting still for half an hour felt like a lifetime!
the copper colour is amazing! I’m so lazy when it comes to my hair! xx
Thanks! Really happy with it : ) x
Graet look – cardigan is awesome:-)
Kisses,

Thank you – you can’t beat a bit of thrift shopping cardigan action : )
Love the cut and colour, and of course your bargainous ‘granny cardy’! :D
Thanks Helen!
That cardigan was a great buy, you look so cozy and cool!

Your hair looks gorgeous here, I love the colour! I love getting my hair cut, chopping it all off was the best thing I ever did…

Short hair really suits you! I just wish I enjoyed the process a bit more… x
You have great hair and now it looks even better! I’m a big fan of a granny cardi as you know and I’m always drawn to checks and plaids like this. The green/blue really sets off the chestnut in your hair. P.S. am I the only person not to know what ‘balayage’ means?
Aww thank you. You are not alone – my colleague suggested it and I didn’t know what she was talking about until the hairdresser talked me through it. Essentially it’s hand painting random sections of hair with bleach/dye to make it lighter – a bit like the ombre look but more random… I think…
