Thrifting and Leather à la Man Repeller

thrift shirt and vintage blazerThis outfit reminds me of Leandra Medine’s Man Repeller blog, back in the day when it was more about outfits that could invoke Marmite-like feelings, and less about meandering thoughts on beauty and lifestyle choices that seem to never quite get to the point.

I still love their New Yorker, effortless and more than slightly androgynous style though, which is what I liken this look too. My leather Zara trousers were a last-minute buy in the sales last summer and they have served me well during this cold snap, though I do always feel a bit daring when I wear them, as if I’m rebelling like Sandy from Grease, minus the dodgy perm.

The mens shirt is a special one as Mr Ship-Shape brought it back from a work trip to San Francisco last year. He knows my love for rummaging in charity shops and vintage fairs so every time he goes to the US he’s under strict instructions to do a spot of thrift shopping for me. I’m I the only one who can’t help but think of this song whenever I hear the word ‘thrift’?

I’m gonna pop some tags! ;) I would love to go thrift shopping in the US, I bet it would be amazing! I have a friend who lives in LA and she said her local thrift stores are full of Wildfox – SWOON. I really love this look SJ, your trousers are beauts and the shirt is just the right ‘oversized’!
