The Girl in the Cat Hat

Zara black felt cat ear capFrom the moment I saw a Chinese teen sporting a beige felt hat with moulded cat ears in the terminal of Rome’s Fiumicino airport, I knew I needed to procure a cat hat of my very own.

A feline bowler hat was at the top of my wishlist – bloggers such as Carrie have made it look effortless – but until this year’s January sales I’d yet to see anything like what I was searching for. Enter Zara (practically my second home when a sale is on) and this beaut of a black moulded cat ear cap. It’s a little more 60s in shape than I would like and although I spotted a  similar bowler hat in Accessorize just a week later, I couldn’t justify becoming a cat (hat) lady so soon.

Red skater skirt and vintage lion beltI wore this hat to the recent Bonjour Blogger Blog Club, along with a breton stripe t-shirt, also a Zara sales buy, and a red skater skirt, vintage belt and my trusty H&M mac. If you follow me on Instagram you’ll know that I couldn’t make my mind up about these chunky black ankle boots.

They are just so 90s, so similar to the pair of Kickers (remember those?) I wore throughout secondary school, that I wasn’t sure I could give them the love they require. Fortunately, love them I do, and for a pair of heels, these boots are surprisingly comfy. Do you love or loathe the current trend for all things 90s?

A big thank you to my fellow Blog Clubber, Josephine, who braved the rain with me to take these photographs.

Are Kickers still going!? I assumed they’d been swallowed in the 90s never to resurface!

Sorry for the late reply Kathryn – no it’s about two years old I think – they do a similar range every year though.
