Rock The Week #98

This week has been hard, with a bit of bad news and the removal of one of my wisdom teeth (ouch!) but Rock The Week is all about the positives, so with that in mind, here’s the best bits of the week in a nutshell…

Wildlife Photographer of The YearWildlife Photographer of The Year

Visiting the WPTY exhibition is a yearly ritual for Mr Ship-Shape and I, and today we popped along to see it in its new home at Bristol’s MShed. The levels that photographers go to to get shots of jaguars, sea turtles and gorillas (to name but a few of the exhibition’s stars) is incredible and I always learn so much from every visit.

Blog Love

It’s always lovely to discover new bloggers to follow through round-up posts, and this week I was chuffed to bits when I read Niki’s post to find my own name on the list. Niki is a personal stylist who used to run Hip Shapes and Bristol Fashion and now you can find her over at Style Studs and Lace, where she blogs about her experiences living in Bangalore. She is fantastic at finding new ways to style outfits and regularly posts about the inspiration she finds through living abroad.

This week I’ve been…

Blogging about: Bonjour Blogger’s Blog Club – this event was such great fun and if you’re based in the South West the next clubs will be held on the 26th February and the 22nd March. P.S. My celebratory giveaway is ending soon – click here to bag yourself some Benefit!

Listening to: Arctic Monkeys and Rolling In The Deep by Adele while I was having my tooth pulled out!

Watching: We’ve just come back from a trip to see The Wolf of Wall Street, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and it was brilliant! There is a heck of a lot of sex, drugs and strong language but it’s well worth sitting through this impossibly true life story.

Reading: Moranthology by Caitlin Moran. I received this compilation of Moran’s favourite columns the Christmas before last and I love dipping back into it every now and then when I’m between books.

Ooh, must pop along and see the wildlife photos. I just love animals so I’m sure I’d enjoy that.

    Hello SJ,
I’ve been following two blogs since I visited Bristol for the first time last spring (almost one year now, wow): yours and Niki’s! I couldn’t resist to post my first comment after reading this “Rock the week”, where I can find my two favourite bloggers ;)
I really loved Bristol, and I’m trying to plan another trip this spring. If I manage to come and if you like, I’d love to discover your favourite shops! :p
Until then, Shipshapeandbristolfashion will keep me in Bristol’s mood!

Hi Chrystelle, thank you for your lovely comment – you should definitely make another trip to Bristol as spring/summer in the city is the best :) I have a series called Local Love (http://test.shipshapeandbristolfashion.com/tag/local-love/) which has some of my favourite independent shops – this are must-visits for your next trip!
