Bath in Fashion preview pt. 1

BiF Bloggers outside Bath's Fashion Museum

I appreciate I’m a little behind the rest of the Bath in Fashion bloggers with this post, but I’ve had such a lot on and took so many photos on the day that one post just wouldn’t do our little day trip to Bath justice.

Last Sunday 12 bloggers took to the streets of Bath for a fashionable afternoon, to get a sneak preview of Bath in Fashion. Grace, Hayley, Laura, Tara and I met up and drove from Temple Meads to Bath (thanks Grace!) and our first stop (via a quick cuppa at Bea’s Vintage Tea Rooms) was the Fashion Museum, where we met up with the organisers and the rest of the bloggers taking part in the day.

BiF’s Nicky Hancock gave us a taste of what to expect from Bath in Fashion over tea and scones. I’m most looking forward to seeing Mouvements de Femmes the Norman Parkinson exhibition, curated by Roland Mouret. When An Eye For Fashion came to M Shed last year I was entranced by Parkinson’s images so I’ve no doubt that Mouvements de Femmes will provide the same buzz.

After sharing the lengthy rosta of events was reviled, we were allowed to roam the Fashion Museum and take in the new Fifty Fabulous Frocks exhibition, which celebrates the museum’s 50th birthday. Launching in February and running for the rest of the year, the exhibition showcases the museum’s extensive collection of garments and costumes, from Burberry and Erdem to vintage YSL and dresses of unknown origins.

Ornate dresses that are hundreds of years old sit next to 50s swing skirts and Sarah Burton couture gowns and it really is a calming place to visit. For a review of the museum check out my feature for Oxfam.

I loved wandering around the museum but the day didn’t end there so pop back soon to read about the rest of our Bath adventures later this week!

Bath in Fashion takes place across the city from Saturday 13th April to Sunday 21st April. For more information on events and exhibitions, check out the BiF website.

It was great, and it’s on for the rest of the year so you have plenty of time to see it if you’re ever down this way :) x
